- 1 TBS creamy peanut butter
- 1 pine cone
- 1 bowl of wild bird seed
- 6″ piece of yarn, ribbon, or rope
Spread peanut butter all over pine cone. I use a plastic spoon, roll pine cone in bowl of bird seed, shake off and hang in tree.

Regarding the pine cone bird feeder recipe; If at all possible use natural peanut butter. The hydrogenated vegetable oils, salt and sugars in commercial peanut butter are not in a wild birds’ natural diet and may be harmful to their health.

I noticed the recipe for a bird feeder pine cone. After living in British Columbia, I learned that birds will choke on the peanut butter if it gets into their nostrils while they are eating. The preferred method of attaching seeds to the pine cone is with jam. This ensures that the birds won’t get ‘stuffed up’
