Whether summer is short and sweet or long and leisurely these craft ideas can add a whole new layer of summertime fun. Taking the time to do a project with your child (and his or her friends) can create summer memories that will last a lifetime. Here are some great creative summer crafts-
Flower Mask Craft- This is a cute but very simple craft. It is also fun to do with a sunshine mask too.
You will need:
- Paper plate or a circle of cardboard
- Construction paper
- Glue
- Popsicle stick, tongue depressor, or unsharpened pencil
Instructions for the project:
Cut out petal shapes from construction paper (you can fold the paper in half and get 2 petals per page). You can have the kids decorate the petals with markers or sparkles to make the craft a bit more complicated. Have an adult cut the center out of the paper plate so the child’s head becomes the center of the flower. Glue the petals all the way around the edge of the plate. Glue on a popsicle stick or unsharpened pencil as a handle (you may need to add a bit of tape to reinforce). In addition you may want to paint the stick green first. Now the child can peek through the flower!
