Valentine’s Day is the day to celebrate your love and affection for family, friends and lovers. However, it is also a religious holiday which is named after a saint, after all. The following is a look at some religious Valentine’s Day crafts to help celebrate the holiday.
Cards with Scriptures
A Valentine’s Day card, is always welcome and a traditional gift for this holiday. A homemade craft is a wonderful way to show some one that you care enough to create something especially for them. To make it a religious craft, include a heartwarming scripture that captures the spirit of the holiday.
A few great scriptures for Valentine’s Day crafts include:
For anyone you love:
I Cor. 13:4-8 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
Ephesians 5: 2 “And walk in love, esteeming and delighting in one another as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering and sacrifice to God for you, so that it became a sweet fragrance.”
1 John 4: 8 “He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love.”
Angel Heart Crafts
Angels are a religious symbol and can make very wonderful Valentine’s Day crafts.
Supplies
Foam or felt
Small wooden sphere
Wire
4 Wooden spools
2 smaller wooden spheres
Wood paint
Doll hair
Pipe cleaner
Cut the foam or felt into two hearts. You need two for the angel, one for the wings, and one for the skirt. The heart used for the wings will be right side up, and the one used for the skirt of the angel will be upside down. You can choose whatever color you want, though white is usually the popular choice for angels.
Glue the hair on your wooden sphere, and paint a face on your angel. Then take a small bit of pipe cleaner and make a halo for your angel.
Thread the spools through the wire, with the smaller wooden spheres at the ends, as they will make up the arms of your angel.
Now put your angel together. You want to use one heart as the wings, and then glue the head to the bottom, then turn the other heart upside down, and glue it under the head, and attach the hands and arms to the place where the two hearts overlap. Viola! You have a homemade angel, a perfect gift or decoration for your holiday celebrations.
