Kate Greenaway (17 March 1846 – 6 November 1901) was an English children’s book illustrator and writer. She was a contemporary of illustrators Walter Crane and Randolph Caldecott. Greenaway dressed her illustrated children in late eighteenth century fashions: smock-frocks, skeleton suits, high-waisted pinafores, and dresses with mobcaps and straw bonnets.
